North Dakota State University (NDSU) is seeking a creative and entrepreneurial leader for the role of Director of Innovation and Economic Development in NDSU's Office of Research and Creative Activity (RCA). The Director will design, lead, and manage economic development, leverage opportunities for industry partnerships, and nurture and advance the entrepreneurial (pre-)startup ecosystem. The successful candidate will be involved at a hands-on level in these efforts as well as design, lead and manage a vision to enhance NDSU's activity and contributions in these efforts. The new Director will play a vital role in RCA to strategically leverage and align campus and regional resources, opportunities, and assets in order to foster and support economic development, startups and entrepreneurship, and innovative efforts campus- and state-wide. We are especially interested in candidates whose background includes employment in both industry and academia; private sector or nonprofit experience with entrepreneurship and/or entrepreneurship education; and a demonstrated record of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in program development and implementation. Director of Entrepreneurship - EnterpriseWorks/UIUC Research Park – University of Illinois, Urbana, IL
The Director of Entrepreneurship seeks to build the national reputation and excellence of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign entrepreneurship ecosystem in partnership with key stakeholders on campus. The Director is responsible for strategic development and implementation of a vision and infrastructure to establish and accelerate a cross-campus culture of entrepreneurship that spans research institutes, colleges, and departments. The vision will anticipate mechanisms to secure and grow entrepreneurship programs and resources to assist clients with company creation, funding, management, and growth beyond the incubation phase. The position is primarily focused on supporting the entrepreneurship programming and business development of clients of the EnterpriseWorks incubator at the University of Illinois Research Park, which provides technology commercialization support for researchers and entrepreneurs, supports new venture creation, and catalyzes promising startup companies. The role includes oversight of the capital building project to create EnterpriseWorks 2.0, which will provide a growth-stage location for small businesses in the Research Park and a location for entrepreneurship programming and collaboration. CEO, Uplands Science & Technology Foundation
The Uplands Science and Technology Foundation (USTF) seeks an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as its new CEO. USTF is a nonprofit research foundation, formed in 2021 to accelerate the transformation of the WestGate Technology Park into a knowledge community and mixed-use innovation hub in the Indiana Uplands. The new CEO will take over at a pivotal moment for WestGate as the USTF moves to capitalize on the development of a $385 million microelectronics fabrication facility that was announced by Governor Eric Holcomb on November 21, 2022. The facility will bring 300-400 jobs with average wages near $100,000 per year and will have a catalytic impact on the park. The new CEO will be charged with realizing the vision laid out in the ambitious WestGate Master Plan, which was developed in consultation with nationally recognized experts including TEConomy Partners, Perkins+Will, and The University Financing Foundation.
