University research, science and technology parks are economic engines in communities around the world. The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) is getting the word out. Communities of Innovation Week: Invite Congress to Your Research, Science and Technology Park was August 22-26, 2011.  But it isn't too late to invite your Congressperson to tour your park and see first hand how research, science and technology parks are creating high-wage jobs, improving the quality of life and driving economic growth.

On February 14th, the President released his proposed budget for FY 2012. It includes support for science parks. Appropriation is now pending for the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2010. The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) released The Power of Place 2.0: The Power of Innovation in 2010. The Power of Innovation, an update to The Power of Place: A National Strategy for Building America’s Communities of Innovation, outlines the role the federal government can take to use research parks and other innovation assets to create jobs and remain a front runner in the global technology competition.
