iParks Webinar: Renewable Energy in Texas

Now Available ON DEMAND

Texas leads the nation in wind energy with a capacity of over 8,000 megawatts.  And that number is expected to double in the next 3 years.  In fact, if Texas were an independent nation, it would rank fifth in the world in wind energy generation, behind Spain, Germany, India, and China.  Learn how the state has been able to do this and why it is so difficult to replicate across the nation.  Learn what the challenges are to build the transmission necessary to move wind energy from where there is a lot of wind, in the plains states, to New York or Chicago.  Learn about the difficulties managing wind in the electric grid presents and how wind affects the use of other fuel sources and even electric vehicles.
